(One) Man Against (His Own) Nature
Ink, acrylic, and watercolor on watercolor board, 20" x 23"
For those of us raised in the West, we’ve generally been taught to honor the Intellect (mind) above all else. The intellect is certainly a useful tool in many areas of Life, but in the search for what the soul yearns for, the rational mind is of ‘little’ value. Rather, it’s from the depths of the individual Spirit (heart) that the real truth about who we are and what we’ve come to this planet to do and to share with others takes root, arises, and blossoms into being. Only by listening to the language of our hearts will we uncover our true nature. As Swami Vivekananda said: "The greatest religion is to be true to your own nature. Have faith in yourselves!"
